Samosas are a popular Indian snack made of a crispy pastry filled with a savory mixture of spiced potatoes, peas, and sometimes meat. They are deep-fried until golden brown and served with chutney.
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons oil or ghee
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 cups potatoes (boiled and mashed)
1/2 cup green peas
2 teaspoons garam masala
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix flour, oil, and salt. Add water gradually to make a smooth dough. Cover and set aside.
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter. Add mashed potatoes, green peas, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes. Let it cool.
Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into a thin circle. Cut it in half to form two semicircles.
Take one semicircle, fold it into a cone shape, and seal the edge with water. Fill it with the potato mixture and seal the open edge.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Fry the samosas until golden brown. Serve hot with chutney.
